Catalog vs stock

MerchMind separates what you sell from how much you have.

In Catalog you create the item: name, SKU, units, taxes, and prices. That answers “what is this product?”

On-hand quantity appears only when Inventory posts a movement, for example:

  • Purchase status set to received
  • Opening stock
  • Transfer in
  • Reversal of a write-off (rare)

Until then, the product can exist in Catalog with zero (or no) warehouse balance. The till will treat stock according to item type and available quantity.

When a sale completes (including credit sales that post stock), Inventory decreases. Quotations and held sales do not consume stock until they become a completed sale.
