POS overview
Point of Sale is how you sell: open a register, take payments, and keep a record of shifts and history. Setup (branches, terminals, profiles) lives under POS settings; day-to-day selling opens the register UI.
Before the first sale
Section titled “Before the first sale”- Finish POS → Setup (or the setup wizard) — branches, terminals, and store profile.
- Ensure Catalog has sellable items and Inventory has stock where needed.
- Open a session and shift on a terminal with enough cash float.
Branch creation provisions a default terminal so new branches are not register-less.
What cashiers do
Section titled “What cashiers do”- Open the register for their branch/terminal
- Add lines (scan, search, or browse)
- Attach a customer when needed (loyalty, credit, price lists)
- Take payment (cash, other tenders, and M-Pesa where configured)
- Hold a sale, save a quotation, or complete a credit sale — see Held, quotations & credit
- Close the shift with counted cash when done
Related apps in the sidebar
Section titled “Related apps in the sidebar”Depending on your verticals and permissions you may also see Customers, Kitchen, Patients, Warranties, Returns, and Quotations. Operational POS areas sit in the POS sidebar — not buried only under settings.
Customer groups (under Contacts) control pricing segments for attached customers — Customer groups.
Stock at sale time
Section titled “Stock at sale time”Completing a sale (including credit sales that post stock) reduces inventory. Quotations do not. Held sales keep the cart without finishing payment.
