Selling price groups
A selling price group is a named price list — for example Wholesale, Retail, or Staff. The item’s normal shelf price stays on the product; groups are optional overlays.
Per-item list prices can be:
- Fixed (ex-tax) — an absolute list price
- % of default — a percentage of the item’s default sale price
For Inclusive/Exclusive entry and profit % on the product itself, see Item pricing modes.
Where to configure them
Section titled “Where to configure them”- Catalog → Selling price groups — create the lists (name, description, active).
- Item edit → Pricing — set a fixed or percentage price per group for that product.
- Contacts → Customer groups — a customer group can point at a selling price group, or use a percentage on the base price. See Customer groups.
- POS → Branches / store profiles — optional default price list for the branch.
- Update prices (Catalog) — matrix import/export of SKU × list prices.
How the till picks a price
Section titled “How the till picks a price”When a cashier adds a line, MerchMind resolves the sell price on the server (the register does not invent prices). In order of precedence:
- Cashier explicitly picks a price list on the till (when lists are available).
- Else customer group linked to a selling price group (if the attached customer has one).
- Else the branch default selling price group.
- Else the item’s default shelf price.
Percentage customer groups
Section titled “Percentage customer groups”If the active customer group uses a percentage calculation (not a linked price list), the branch default price list is ignored unless the cashier explicitly re-selects a list. That avoids stacking “group % off” with a wholesale list by accident.
What cashiers see
Section titled “What cashiers see”On retail and pharmacy tills, when your business has accessible price lists, a price list control appears. Changing it reprices open lines that were not manually overridden. Receipts can note which list or customer group applied.
Permissions
Section titled “Permissions”Managing lists and bulk price updates needs Catalog permissions. Using a list at the till may also require permission for that group. If you cannot see or select a list, ask an administrator.
