Catalog overview

Catalog is the product master: what you sell, how it is measured, taxed, and priced. It does not keep warehouse quantities — that is Inventory.

  • Items — products, restaurant dishes, drugs (when pharmacy is enabled), and related types based on your branches
  • Units — pieces, packs, kilos, and conversions
  • Taxes — rates applied when pricing and selling
  • Categories — optional grouping for browse and reporting
  • Selling price groups — named price lists (Wholesale, Staff, …) used at POS

Item prices are stored excluding tax, with inclusive amounts and profit percent kept in sync. On the item form you choose Inclusive or Exclusive entry mode and a profit % markup — details in Item pricing modes.

On the till, the effective price can come from the item’s default shelf price or from a selling price group, depending on customer group, branch default, and cashier choice.

Only stockable product types can receive inventory movements. Services and some prepared items may sell without a warehouse balance. For how stock appears after you create an item, see Catalog vs stock.
